Business Counseling, Litigation & Transactions

Silverman Thompson’s business litigation group is, at its core, a group of trial lawyers.  We have tried cases in federal (district court and bankruptcy) and state courts in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Washington D.C., and Georgia, and have arbitrated matters before AAA and JAMS.

We have also argued dispositive and evidentiary motions in federal and state courts in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Washington D.C., Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, California, and Minnesota.  We teach courses relating to trial advocacy in law schools and at CLEs and have successfully coached law school mock trial teams for years.  While settlement is often in a client’s best interest, and thus, not all matters see a merits hearing, Silverman Thompson’s business litigation lawyers are well prepared to try cases when and if needed.

The wealth of business-related experience we’ve garnered from our litigation practice has also made us skillful counselors, able to assist with transactions big and small or business advice across a wide array of industries.  We regularly provide outside general counsel services and assist with business formation and whatever other issues our business clients may need.  We recognize that litigation is a useful tool often necessary for businesses to achieve their goals (or a necessary tool to fend off challenges), but we pride ourselves on assisting our clients in the best way possible for their needs, which just as often may involve avoiding litigation and finding an alternative solution to the problems our clients face.
