Ramsay Whitworth, a partner in the Silverman Thompson’s Business Litigation Group, brings nearly fifteen years of trial experience in Maryland and Pennsylvania federal and state courts. He represents clients in various disputes, including financial, business, employment, construction, real estate, and securities-related matters. Recognized as one of Maryland’s top business litigators, he also serves as outside general counsel to companies in financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, construction, and real estate development industries. 

As an exceptional trial lawyer, cross-examiner, and legal writer, Mr. Whitworth has handled hundreds of complex commercial disputes. His clients include Presidents, CEOs, Boards of Directors, and Management Committees in corporate governance disputes; high net worth investors, partners, and members of LLCs and companies in partnership and LLC disputes; and owners or contractors in real estate or construction disputes. He emphasizes client collaboration, offering outside general counsel representation and expertise in drafting contracts, mergers, acquisitions, real estate projects, and corporate governance documents. 

Mr. Whitworth is an authority on Electronically Stored Information (ESI) and e-discovery, advising clients on data retention policies and practices. He has litigated e-discovery disputes and obtained sanctions against parties for evidence mishandling. 

In law school, Mr. Whitworth excelled on the National Trial Team, earning recognition from the ACTL Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Medal for Advocacy Excellence. He began his career at Maryland’s oldest law firm, specializing in commercial, insurance, and construction law. Transitioning to Gebhardt & Smith, LLP in 2001, he represented financial institutions before expanding into construction and securities fraud sectors. 

Joining Silverman Thompson in 2014, Mr. Whitworth brings his extensive business and commercial litigation experience, emphasizing strategic problem-solving and efficiency. He mentors young lawyers, coaches trial advocacy, and has a proven track record of success and dedication to his clients.
