Complex Insurance Litigation
Our attorneys utilize their expansive knowledge and understanding of complex insurance issues to identify pressure points in coverage disputes to aggressively present the strongest possible case, including the assertion and defense of bad faith claims. From the initial pleadings, through discovery to dispositive motions and trial, we maximize our clients’ leverage and bargaining position by identifying all the angles and exploiting our clients’ strongest arguments to force quick settlements or take strong cases to the factfinder.
Administrative and Regulatory Matters
Our attorneys guide clients through a wide range of administrative matters, including bringing and defending administrative complaints, defending against market conduct examinations and other administrative investigations, compliance issues, negotiating statutory, legislative and regulatory improvements, licensing form and product filings with various state agencies, and utilizing Public Information Act requests to obtain valuable information that advances clients’ goals.
Representative clients the firm has represented in administrative and regulatory matters include:
- Baltimore Ravens Limited Partnership
- Erie Insurance Group
- Indemnity Insurance Corporation, Risk Retention Group
- Insurance Designers of Maryland
- Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company

Insurance Transactions
Our attorneys have conducted numerous insurance audits for commercial and individual clients. Our clients have found that advice provided by attorneys well-versed in litigation and insurance issues, but who are not trying to sell insurance products, is uniquely valuable in structuring their own insurance coverage and making purchasing decisions. We thoughtfully assist clients in preparing insurance claims and drafting claim documents in order to maximize claims recoveries, sometimes through the filing of suit or an administrative complaint, or both.
Insurance Claims
Silverman Thompson regularly assists individuals with a wide range of insurance claim disputes. These disputes arise when a claim against an insurance policy is either denied outright, or a decision is delayed while the insurance company investigates. Sometimes, these investigations result in the insured being asked questions by an attorney for the insurance company, known as an “examination under oath,” or “EUO.” That attorney is not looking out for your best interests. Under either scenario, it is essential to have your personal attorney guide you through the process to ensure that your rights under the insurance policy are protected.
While these disputes often arise in claims made under a homeowner’s policy seeking coverage for property damage, many individuals find themselves fighting the denial of a life insurance claim following the death of a loved one. These denials frequently trigger rights to appeal, and possibly litigation. Silverman Thompson’s attorneys are particularly skilled and have successfully guided their clients to favorable outcomes.
