Since joining the Firm in 2023, Erin D. Brooks has worked across Silverman Thompson’s real estate, family law, and business litigation practice groups. Ms. Brooks’s breadth of knowledge across various departments and legal fields makes her a strong collaborator in the Firm. She is known by her clients for being extremely detail oriented and thoroughly prepared, and her master’s degree in social work gives her a higher level of insight and understanding into her clients and their personal matters.
Ms. Brooks has focused her real estate practice on handling dozens of landlord/tenant related matters throughout the District Courts of Maryland, including failure to pay rent, breach of lease, tenant-holding-over, and wrongful detainer actions. She focuses her representation on landlords, tenants, business owners, property management companies, commercial property owners and contractors in all aspects of development, construction, leasing, and management.
Ms. Brooks also works with the Silverman Thompson family law department, where she concentrates her representation throughout the State of Maryland in divorce, child custody and support, parenting agreements, alimony, marital property division, marital settlement agreements, visitation, and paternity. The family law department and Ms. Brooks is also well versed in representing clients in peace order and protective order matters in the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland.
Only three years out of law school, Ms. Brooks was named a SuperLawyers Rising Star in 2024, demonstrating her outstanding professionalism and reputation within the Maryland legal community, and her vigorous ability to advocate for her clients.
Ms. Brooks, a cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, was a distinguished member of the Royal Graham Shannonhouse III Honor Society and served as Managing Editor of the University of Baltimore Law Forum. During her time there, she worked as a Student Attorney in the Community Development Clinic, providing legal counsel on business formation and related matters. Additionally, she served as a Law Scholar and worked as a law clerk at a Columbia-based business law firm. Prior to her law studies, Ms. Brooks earned her undergraduate degree from Manhattan College and a master’s degree in social work from New York University.
