Mark Edelson is a partner in the Firm’s business and commercial litigation department with over 13 years of experience in the state and federal courts of Maryland, and 11 years of experience in the state and federal courts of Florida. Mr. Edelson puts his analytical and public speaking abilities to use representing clients in financial, business, construction, real estate, and fiduciary related disputes. Based on his considerable experience both as a litigator and a small business operator, Mr. Edelson is uniquely positioned to assist clients with a wide variety of complex legal matters.
Beginning his career at Goldman & Goldman, P.A., Mr. Edelson swiftly ascended to lead the firm’s litigation division, representing a diverse clientele ranging from banks and financial institutions to entrepreneurs, investors, and construction contractors. With a focus on bankruptcy law, he served as counsel to a Chapter 7 trustee in numerous proceedings before Maryland bankruptcy courts. Expanding his practice to encompass Florida’s state and federal courts, Mr. Edelson achieved notable success, including representing a national banking institution in a pivotal five-day arbitration trial. Assuming management duties in 2014, he oversaw all firm operations while continuing to argue cases before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
Mr. Edelson was elected to the Maryland General Assembly in November 2022, representing Maryland’s 46th Legislative District in the House of Delegates. In addition, Mr. Edelson performs pro-bono civil rights work and most recently represented a group of citizens in southeast Baltimore in a case against the Mayor and City Council, successfully preventing the demolition of a protected cycle track that local residents utilize for safe access to employment.
Mr. Edelson has been recognized as both an accomplished attorney and a leader in the Baltimore community, gaining notice from Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, and his constituents alike.
“Mark is a true star. Emigrating from South Africa with deep gratitude toward the U.S. and a strong intent to be a good citizen, he quickly rose to the top of his law school class and has never looked back. His legal work is meticulous, consistently reflecting his commitment to his clients. It’s no surprise that his neighbors recognized his unique talents and compassion, electing him to represent them in the Maryland Legislature at just 37 years old.” —Managing Partner, Steven D.
