Kate Sinclair’s practice involves criminal and civil litigation, including business litigation, constitutional challenges, government enforcement and compliance, employment litigation, health care fraud defense, and civil and criminal appeals. For over 20 years, Ms. Sinclair’s experience covers a wide range of civil and criminal matters in federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as disputes with government agencies over regulatory enforcement matters.

As a litigation generalist, Ms. Sinclair has a creative and adaptable approach to her variety of cases, from complex cases at large firms to cases involving individual parties and small businesses. She excels at research and writing, especially in motions practice as well as pre-litigation advice, notably in contract disputes. Over her career as an attorney, Ms. Sinclair has become increasingly adept at e–discovery issues – both managing large–scale document productions on e–discovery platforms and managing complicated evidentiary privilege issues.

On top of her law practice, Ms. Sinclair is heavily involved with the MSBA Lawyer Assistance Program, which provides free, confidential mental health and substance abuse services to lawyers, law students, judges, and legal staff throughout Maryland.

As the primary caregiver in her household, Ms. Sinclair has been very involved with her two children’s parent and school boards. Because volunteer work has always been a large part of her professional life, her experience as an attorney greatly benefits her non-profit boards, even when she is not representing them, in matters such as bylaws revisions, real estate leasing issues, governance documents, employment changes, and personnel matters.

Before joining Silverman Thompson, Ms. Sinclair was most recently an associate at Eversheds Sutherland (formerly Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan, LLP), and a law clerk to the Honorable C. Christopher Hagy in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
